GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet approved the Department of Industries signing of MoUs with five industries that will invest Rs 2,963 crore in the state, besides direct and indirect appointments for 4,750 people.

The Cabinet also approved a scheme, Apon Bahon, for state government employees to purchase vehicles. Under this scheme, the State Government will bear a 2-3 percent loan interest subsidy: two percent for male employees and three percent for women and divyang employees. If any male purchases electric vehicles, he will get a three percent loan interest subsidy.

The Cabinet decided to appoint the senior-most teachers of primary schools with 150 or more students as head teachers with full pay scales. The government will give the responsibility of DDOs (drawal and disbursement officers) to the senior-most teachers of primary schools with less than 150 students. For this additional duty, such teachers will get an additional amount of Rs 500 per month.

The Cabinet today decided to send recommendations to the Central Government to include certain OBC communities in Assam that have not been included in the Central OBC list.

The Cabinet also approved the payment of a non-practice allowance to the doctors working in ESIs.

The Cabinet has also given approval to the establishment of an excellence centre for badminton training to provide world-class training to shuttlers. The Badminton Association of India and the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs of Assam will sign a memorandum of understanding.
