GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet took a slew of decisions today, including the setting up of an Assam Urban Knowledge Hub, jobs for the next of kin of martyrs in the armed forces, assured power supply in peak season, etc.

The Cabinet approved that the State Government would provide government jobs to the next of kin or a family member of Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel who made supreme sacrifices for the nation.

The Cabinet also approved the Mukhya Mantrir Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana for streamlining the medical reimbursement procedures for government employees and pensioners. Medical reimbursement under this scheme will be at Central Government Health Insurance Scheme rates.

The Cabinet approved the DPR of distribution infrastructure works to modernize the power distribution system with an estimated cost of Rs. 5,196 crore, benefiting around 67 lakh power consumers.

The Cabinet approved a power purchase agreement to ensure peak-hour supply. Under this agreement, the government will purchase 100 MW of green power from Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd.

The Cabinet approved Rs 22 crore to set up an Assam urban knowledge hub to strengthen the implementation of urban reforms and innovations.

The Cabinet approved the exclusion of the entire Tiwa Autonomous Council area from the purview of the Assam State Capital region.
