NEW DELHI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the CEOs and honchos of several companies in both India and the USA to partner with Assam and to grab the opportunity that the growth story of Assam offers aplenty.
He was addressing an event hosted by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISP Forum) at Hotel Oberoi here on Tuesday evening.
The Chief Minister showcased the inherent strengths of Assam and urged the CEOs to grab the immense opportunities the State offers ranging from tea to trade and tourism. "Our inherent strengths - geographical, natural resources, flora and fauna - coupled with enabling policy push guided by the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has made Assam a powerhouse of opportunities. From tea to trade and tourism, we offer enormous possibilities for businesses," he said.
Outlining the vision of his government at the interactive round table meeting on opportunities in Assam, the Chief Minister said, "We have been working relentlessly on creating a robust environment for investments through a bouquet of policies."
The Chief Minister also said when it comes to policy and development, the strategically located State of Assam is at the heart of the country. And for this, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Modi for bringing in the kind of difference in Assam and the region as a whole. "If you consider policy and development, we are now at the heart of this country. So, that is the kind of difference Hon'ble Prime Minister Modi has brought in," he quipped.
The Chief Minister welcomed investments in higher education and tourism in which the state has huge potential.
President and CEO of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Dr Mukesh Aghi, while sharing his profound vision, reaffirmed that both India and the USA desire to strengthen economic relations and strategic partnership at a time when India is celebrating its 75th year of independence.
National Vice President of BJP and former MP, Baijayant Jay Panda said the sterling vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of mainstreaming the North East has seen incredible progress in the region in the last eight years - be it infrastructure or social indices - with Assam leading from the front under the leadership of Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Complimenting USISP Forum for its work in strengthening the India-US partnership, Panda said, "For 75 years, India and US have worked with great synergy."
Several CEOs evinced keen interest in partnering with Assam in higher education, skill development, connectivity, infrastructure and the telecom sector, a press release said.
