GUWAHATI: The crisis of Covid-19 vaccine doses in the State has eased to an extent with the arrival of 7,20,440 Covishield doses on Saturday night and 14,520 Covaxin doses on Sunday.

In the past few days, the State Health Department could not supply vaccine doses to the vaccination centres in sync with the demand. And that frustrated many people who went to vaccination centres for inoculation.

On Friday, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta took up the matter with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. After the meeting, the vaccine doses arrived in the State.

Till Sunday, the Health department inoculated 1,08,08,091 people in the State. While 86,60,252 received their first doses, 19,47,839 others received both doses. On Sunday, the Health Department inoculated 1,18,768 people till the evening in 806 vaccination centres in the State.

In the past ten days from July 22, the department detected the highest number of 1,760 Covid positive cases in the Kamrup (M) district. Goalpara comes next to Kmrup (M), with 1,121 new cases during the period. The department detected the lowest number of 23 Covid positive cases in South Salmara in the past ten days.
