GUWAHATI: The State Education Department constituted two high-level committees for preparing the evaluation modalities – one each for HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) and HS (Higher Secondary) – candidates. Each of the two committees has nine members.
While the committee for HSLC is headed by former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Dr Alok Buragohain, the one for HS is headed by Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dipak Kumar Sarma.
Each of the two committees will prepare the modalities to be adopted by the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam) and the AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) to evaluate each student for the marks assigned against the theory portion of each subject.
The procedure must be based on available records in schools against each student. According to the chairpersons of SEBA and AHSEC, internal assignment marks of some selected subjects and practical examinations have already been completed, and the marks secured by each of the candidates are already uploaded in their respective systems. The duo, however, said that they don't have any system of recording marks secured by the students in internal examinations conducted by the schools like unit tests, half-yearly and test examinations.
The two committees will have to submit their respective reports within seven days.
After the proper examination on receipt of the reports, the Education Department will issue necessary instructions to all offices and schools concerned to do the needful.
