GUWAHATI: The AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad), Raijar Dal and the AGM (Anchalik Gana Morcha) have failed to cut the ice to make their presence felt as alternative regional forces in the State. The results of the Assembly poll have proved it.
Among the three newly-floated regional parties, only the Raijar Dal has won a seat in the candidature of its president Akhil Gogoi.
It has come to light that the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation spearheaded by the AJP in the State had no impact on the voters of the State. The Raijar Dal and the AGM also lent their support to the agitation.
It seems that the AJP was floated in haste without doing adequate spadework to strengthen grassroots-level organizations. The three parties utterly failed to translate the anti-CAA sentiments into votes. They failed to do enough to negate the grip that the BJP-AGP have among the mainstream Assamese voters.
