SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET PASSED

GUWAHATI: Finance Minister Ajanta Neog will present the State’s Annual Budget for the Financial Year 2023–24 in the State Assembly tomorrow. It will be her second full-fledged annual Budget.
Speaking to the media today, she said, “I presented my first budget for a nine-month period. Tomorrow I’m going to present my second full-fledged Budget. The experience in the past shows that the people of the state have responded to the budgets. I seek blessings and good wishes from all before presenting the Budget. We will try to give justice to each sector.”
She further said, “We will try to keep the commitments in the Budget. We did try to keep the promises in the earlier Budgets, though we might not keep 100 percent of the commitments.”
Meanwhile, the Assembly passed the Supplementary Budget for the current financial year on the fourth day of the Assembly session today. The House passed the Assam Appropriation (No. 1) Bill, 2023, for the withdrawal from and out of the consolidated fund of the state amounting to Rs 10850,76,94,000. On behalf of the Finance Minister, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika introduced the Bill in the House.
