GUWAHATI: With two deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll in Assam in this flood season has risen to 14. A man and a woman from the Sonitpur district died in the last 24 hours. According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger level at Neamatighat in the Jorhat district, and in the Dhubri district while the Disang is flowing above the danger level at Nanglamuraghat in the Sibasagar district, the Beki at Road bridge in the Barpeta district and the Sankosh at Golakganj in the Dhubri district. The Brahmaputra is maintaining a steady level in Dibrugarh but from Neamatighat to Dhubri it is in the rising trend.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) flood report, 22 revenue circles of eight districts continue to remain affected by floods. These eight districts are Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Kokrajhar, Sibasagar and Sonitpur.

The total population affected is 65,652 people of 313 villages. There are seven relief camps in the Sibasagar district with 1,329 inmates.
