GUWAHATI: The toll in floods across Assam rose to 104 with the death of a person during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, the main rivers and their tributaries were flowing over the danger level inundating several places.
According to the ASDMA's daily flood bulletin, one person died at Bokakhat in Golaghat district.
The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Neamatighat in Jorhat, Tezpur in Sonitpur, Goalpara and Dhubri; Dhansiri (S) at Numaligarh in Golaghat district; Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpur district; and the Kopili at Dharamtul in Nagaon district.
Altogether 21 out of the 33 districts of the State have been affected. The flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Biswanath, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, and Dibrugarh.
As many as 19,81,801 persons in 1,771 villages/ localities across 60 Revenue Circles have been affected. Altogether 45,565 persons have taken shelter in 236 relief camps. Altogether 162 relief distribution centres have been set up.
The total crop area affected till date is 1,09,236.62 hectares.
Altogether 7,20, 445 big animals have been affected besides 3,84, 750 small animals and 8,47, 506 poultry have been affected even as three big animals were washed away till Tuesday evening.
Embankments, roads and bridges/culverts have been breached at many places. Erosion has been reported from Biswanath Revenue Circle.
While 43 camps have been affected in Kaziranga National Park, three others have been vacated across the Park. On the other hand, while 137 Park animals have died, 163 others have been rescued till date.
