GUWAHATI: The first wave of assam floods in the State has made its impact felt by inundating 36 villages, breaching four embankments and damaging embankments and RCC bridges in the State. However, there has been no loss of life and livestock.

According to official sources, around 30,000 people of the 36 villages in Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Majuli districts have been affected by this wave of deluge. Three embankments have been breached – two in Biswanath Chariali district and one in Nalbari district. Two other embankments have been damaged at Kalaigaon and Singhimari in the Udalguri district. A road each has been damaged in Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhemaji and Nalbari districts.

An RCC bridge each has been damaged at Harisingha and Dhekiabari in the Uldaguri district.

While erosion has been reported from Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Nalbari and Goalpara districts; incidents of landslides have been reported from a few places in Dima Hasao district.
