GUWAHATI: Flood water is receding, but the death toll due to floods keeps rising in the state. Two persons died in the Hailakandi district in the past 24 hours. The death toll due to floods and landslides in this season has risen to 192.

Though none of the rivers is flowing above the danger level in the state, the floods have affected 12 districts. The districts are – Bajali, Biswanath, Cachar, Chirang, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Tamulpur.

According to the flood bulletin issued by the ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority), as many as 5,39,334 people in 390 villages have been reeling under floods. As many as 114 relief camps give shelter to over 38,000 people.
