GUWAHATI: The overall flood situation in the State continued to show improvement on Wednesday, but a fresh deluge has been reported from the Cachar, Dima-Hasao, Morigaon and Tamulpur districts.

Landslides were also reported in the Karimganj district in the last 24 hours.

According to today's flood bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the Central Water Commission has reported that no river was flowing over the danger level as of this morning. However, five revenue circles and 63 villages continue to be affected by floods.

About 23,088 people are still affected, out of whom 1,819 people are taking shelter in 17 relief camps. The ASDMA stated that relief materials were also distributed to other affected people who are not taking shelter in relief camps.

A total of 196 people lost their life due to floods and landslide since April 6 this year.
