GUWAHATI: Rehabilitation Policy For Erosion-Hit People Of Assam: The Assam Government has come up with a rehabilitation policy for erosion-affected families. The government has said that the erosion-affected families of the State can apply for availing of the benefits under the policy.

Rules of Assam Rehabilitation Policy

As per the eligibility criteria, families who have lost their lands, both homestead and agricultural ones and have no land anywhere else, families who have lost their homestead land-only and families who have lost their agricultural land only would qualify to avail of the benefits under the policy.

The assam rehabilitation package would not cover all those erosion-affected families who have anyone from the family working in a government or semi-government organisation, any other public sector unit or a bank or any private organisation with a salary of over Rs 5 lakh annually or whose annual income or turnover from business exceeds Rs 5 lakh.

The erosion-affected families have to apply at their respective revenue circle office. Once the applications are received, those would be reviewed by the district-level committees headed by the Deputy Commissioners of the districts and have MPs, MLAs from the districts, Presidents of Zilla Parishads, SDOs, Revenue Circle Officers as members.
