GUWAHATI: The State Government handed over the investigation into the death of SI Junmoni Rabha to the CBI. Until the CBI takes up the case, the CID will continue its investigation. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Our stand is crystal clear. We have handed over the investigation to the CBI. If anybody demands it be handed over to a judicial commission, we are ready for that too. Our purpose is to ensure a neutral inquiry into the case. It is not worth talking about who is guilty. We will take action on the findings of the CBI investigation.”
On the recent controversy over fake currency and fake gold in the state, the Chief Minister said, “We will root out the business of fake notes and fake gold in the state. If people buy fake gold out of greed, they are at fault, for which they have to suffer a loss.”
Regarding dharnas and protests in the state, the Chief Minister said, “I think it is high time the public took out signature campaigns against such protests. I don’t see the need for such dharnas and protests when the government is working overtime to solve various problems.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma would come to Guwahati tomorrow. The two chief ministers will hold talks to resolve boundary disputes in the remaining six disputed stretches along the boundary.
