Assam government plans to issue pension order on retirement day

GUWAHATI: The Assam government is planning to issue the pension orders of school-level teachers and panchayat employees on the very day they retire from services.

Pension & Public Grievances Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury said, "The pilot project of this scheme named 'Kritagyota' (Gratitude), will commence in Kamrup (Metro) from the last part of October. We're also pushing for clearing all backlogs in the department. Already, several thousands of cases were disposed of during the last four-and-half years."

He elaborated, "The Directorate of Pension deals with the cases related to only the retired teachers, Panchayat employees and a few others. The work on online entry of data related to the teachers in Kamrup (Metro) will commence soon. Detailed discussions with NIC (National Informatics Centre) is on."
