GUWAHATI: The State-level Police Recruitment Board, Assam, advertised for the filling up of 5,563 vacancies in as many as 15 different categories of posts in the Assam Police on October 7. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has revealed that now the State Government is going to advertise for the filling up of around 15,000 posts in different departments by this month. The Chief Minister took part in the Amrit Kalash Yatra in the Bihdia Jajikona Development Block in the Kamrup district today. Addressing the public after the yatra, the Chief Minister revealed this information.

He said, “The State-level Police Recruitment Board, Assam, advertised for the filling up of vacancies in the Assam Police yesterday. Now, we are going to advertise for the filling of 15,000 posts in different departments. The poor have come to know that to get a government job, they do not need to run after brokers, nor do they need to pay money to anyone. They only need to read and run (a physical exercise for a physical test) to get government jobs now. We have provided government jobs to around 90,000 youths so far. They got their jobs at their own merit, not at the mercy of ministers or MLAs.”

Announcing Rs 10,000 to each woman member of self-help groups (SHGs), the Chief Minister said, “The state has around 40 lakh women members of SHGs. We will provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to each SHG member to let them start a small business. After the Durga Puja, we are going to issue the forms. The SHG members will give their type of business and bank account numbers. We will pay the amount via DBT (direct bank transfer). SHG members using the amount properly will get more funds from the government or banks.”

Along with the Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers Pijush Hazarika, Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia, Kamalpur MLA Diganta Kalita, and government officials attended the public meeting.

The Amrit Kalash Yatra is currently underway all over the state. The soil collected in two kalash (pitchers) from door-to-door in each area will reach Guwahati from different parts of the state on October 26. One of the two pitchers from each area will go to New Delhi on October 27 to be used at the proposed Amrit Uddyan.
