GUWAHATI: The lack of adequate strength of ACS (Assam Civil Service) officers affects the state administration at the grassroots level. The Personnel Department has decided to approach the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) to conduct the next CCE (combined competitive examination).

According to sources in the Personnel Department, the ACS cadre strength in the state is 1,100, and the men in position are 830. Thus, 270 ACS officers' posts are lying vacant in the state.

Meanwhile, the selection process of 121 ACS officers (Junior Grade) is underway in the APSC.

The Personnel Department is examining the posts for filling up. It will approach the APSC after approval from the Chief Minister.
