GUWAHATI: Assam's Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday extended greetings to the followers of the Islamic faith on the eve of Eid-uz-Zoha.
In a message, Sarma said that this festival fosters unity, peace and harmony in society by upholding the values of sacrifice, kindness, humanity and brother.
Governor Mukhi said in a separate statement: "I extend my heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the Muslim brethren of the state on the occasion of Eid-uz-Zuha, a festival of sacrifice. I hope the festival fortifies the bond of brotherhood and deepens the spirit of compassion in our society. Eid-ul-Zuha epitomizes love, sacrifice and service to humanity. Let's celebrate this festival with a renewed sense of sacrifice for the larger societal goal and work to strengthen human values."
