GUWAHATI: The Health Department has observed that some people in the State are not coming forward to take their second doses of anti-Covid vaccines. This development has come even after the Health Department took initiatives to bring and convince people to take their second doses of Covid vaccines.
"Some people are remaining unreciprocated to take their second vaccines doses even after receiving messages from Cowin, a web portal for COVID-19 vaccination registration, owned and operated by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The local health institutions in a few areas in the State recently made phone calls to individuals for whom the second vaccination is due. But responses of the people to phone calls by the Health Department were not very encouraging," a source in the Health Department said. Sensing the development State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta has directed his department to work out an action plan to bring more people to receive second doses of vaccines.
Till 7.30 pm on Friday the first doses of anti-Covid vaccines have been inoculated among 1,26,59,043 individuals. Altogether 26,85,161 persons have received the second dose. The Health Department on Friday inoculated vaccines among 1,59,619 individuals at 144 locations in the State. On the other hand, the State had a stock of 2,50,320 vaccines till Friday morning which is not sufficient. The State Government will take up the issue with Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya for an adequate supply of vaccines.
