GUWAHATI: Assam is inching towards 100 per cent administration of the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. In the first four days of Phase-II of Har Ghar Dastak vaccination-cum-motivational drive the Health department administered eight lakh vaccine doses – the first dose to some and the second dose to others.

The drive is currently underway since November 29, 2021. The Health Department is trying to complete the first dose by December 5, 2021. Sources in the Health department and NHM (National Health Mission), Assam said that the state is nearing the target of 100 per cent administration of the first dose.

People eligible for vaccination (18+) are from 2.13 crore to 2.15 crore in the state. Till 7.30 pm today, 2,12,79,167 people took the first dose. Some scattered and left-out people and some youths just attaining 18 years of age may appear after this drive.

Till 7.30 pm today, the department administered 3,27,48,759 doses (both first and second). Today alone, the department administered 2,14,639 doses in 4,107 sites.

These days, ministers, MLAs, MPs, the Chief Secretary, senior bureaucrats and over one lakh employees are busy in the vaccination drive. The Chief Minister may be part of the drive shortly.

The state has a stock of around 50 lakh vaccine doses now.
