Rs 50 lakh reward for Lovlina

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh for Lovlina for winning the gold medal in the Women’s World Boxing Championship. He said, “We cannot take the state to the heights that Lovlina Borgohain and Hima Das have scaled. We are proud of them. Every medal they win scripts a glorious chapter of the state.”
The Chief Minister said, “Up and down is part of players’ lives. I noticed that when Lovlina couldn’t perform well in the last Commonwealth Games, she had to face sharp criticism from a section. This happened to Hima Das as well. That led them to be mentally demoralised to get ready for their next games on the schedule. After Lovlina’s poor performance in the Commonwealth Games, I was in touch with her to boost her morale.”
The Chief Minister appealed to all not to demoralize players based on their poor performance in one or two events. “The poor performance in a particular game shouldn’t erase their good performances in the past. Our thrust is to produce more Lovlina and Hima. The government will do its best on its part in this regard,” he said.
