GUWAHATI: The CID arrested supari trader Sahidul Islam today after a marathon grilling for two days. With his arrest, the number of arrests in the Bajali police extortion case has increased to ten. According to sources, the CID has been grilling three other police personnel in connection with the extortion case. 

They are Pathsala Police Station LC Ananta Malakar, Bhabanipur Police Outpost LC Sanowar Hussain, and the then SP Siddhartha Buragohain's PSO Pranjal Pator. According to sources, Bajali police made a false GD entry on the day of the search in the house of supari trader Rabiul Islam. And it was Ananta Malakar who made the false GD entry. Though he was working at the Pathsala PS, his higher-ups took him to the Bhabanipur outpost as he is skilled in GD entry. Rabiul Islam is a resident of Bhabanipur.

The arrested DSP Pushkal Gogoi and arrested ASP Gayatri Sonowal prepared the list of seizures from the house of Rabiul Islam.
