GUWAHATI: During the last 100 days, the Assam Police seized narcotics worth approximately Rs 2 crore daily on an average across the State. The market value of the seized drugs is Rs 197.85 crore (approximately). The latest information shared by the Assam Police revealed this.
During these 100 days, the Assam Police also seized cash of Rs 1.45 crore from various persons connected with the illegal drug business. The Assam Police also recovered foreign currency valued at Rs 13,630 and FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes) with a face value of Rs 6,800 during several operations against drug operators and cartels across the State.
The official data further stated that during 100 days the police registered 1,141 cases against 1,964 arrested people, besides the seizure of 67 vehicles.
Details of the item-wise recovery of narcotics are as follows: Heroin (26.19 kg); Ganja (9702.90 kg); Opium (18 kg); Cough syrup (93,289 bottles); Tablets/Capsules (15,47,266 pieces); Morphine (2.07 kg); Poppy straw (33.14 kg); Crystal meth (3 kg); Cocaine (4 gram).
The State Police also destroyed the cultivation of various narcotic plants. They carried out the operations in a total area of 31 bigha 3 katha and 12 lessa spread across various places.
