BOKAJAN: The Assam Police seized a huge quantity of heroin worth Rs 8 crore from a private car along the Assam-Nagaland border in the Karbi Anglong district today.

Based on specific information on the movement of the drugs on the National Highway-39, the police intercepted a Maruti Swift car (WB 74P 4456). The police recovered 75 soap boxes containing approximately 1 kilogram of heroin under the rear seat. The police estimated the value of the seized drugs to be over Rs 8 crore in the black market.

The police arrested the two occupants of the vehicle and identified them as 35-year-old Solomon Thuer and 25-year-old Simon Thuer. "The two are residents of Meluri under the Phek district in Nagaland. They carried the drugs from Dimapur and used a lesser-known route to enter Assam, bypassing the Khatkhati check-post. The consignment was supposed to go further through the railways from the Bokajan station," SDPO John Das said.
