GUWAHATI: The APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd.) has hiked the power tariff from September 2023 for, as it said, Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA). The hike ranges from 30 paise per unit to Rs 1.29 per unit. Post-paid power consumers will pay the hiked tariff for September in the October. For smart pre-paid consumers, the applicable FPPPA against energy consumed during September 2023 will be charged in 92 equal daily installments from October 1-December 31, 2023.

According to APDCL, for domestic consumers, including subsidized Jeevan Dhara, the hike will be 30 paise per unit up to 300 units, 50 paise per unit up to 301-500 units, and Rs 1.29 per unit up to more than 500 units, including other consumers (commercial, industrial, etc.).

Any adjustment regarding short or excess recovery due to seasonal variations in consumption within the stipulated period will be adjusted in subsequent periods or as may be directed by the competent authority.

After the hike, Jeevan Dhara consumers who paid Rs 4.05 per unit after the subsidy of Re 1 will now pay Rs 4.35 per unit. Domestic consumers above 0.5 kW to 5 kW who pay Rs 4.95 per unit after a subsidy of Rs 0.75 up to 120 units will now pay at the rate of Rs 5.25 per unit. Such consumers will pay at the rate of Rs 7.30 per unit compared to Rs 7 for 121-240 units, Rs 8.20 per unit compared to 7.90 per unit from 241-300 units per month, Rs 8.40 compared to Rs 7.90 for 301-500 units per month, and Rs 9.19 per unit compared to Rs 7.90 per balance unit, i.e., above 500 units.
