GUWAHATI: Assam registered four more COVID deaths on Monday evening. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "Sad to inform that Uttam Das (31) of Golaghat, Keshab Kumar Barua (62) of Kamrup (M), Kartik Kalita (30) of Kamrup (M), and Dr Jahan Iqbal Ahmed (56) Associate Professor of GMCH, succumbed to COVID-19 today."

Dr Ahmed was a resident of the Baghorbori area here. According to sources, he was suffering from fever and coughs for the last few days and experienced breathing problems on his last day.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The doctor was taking treatment at his home. After his condition became serious this morning, he was brought to the GNRC Hospital at Six Mile. He breathed his last at the hospital. Antigen test of the body was done. We again took the RT-PCR test of the body."
