Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) develops concept of relief camp on wheels

GUWAHATI: The State Government has developed a new concept, relief camps on wheels, with the help of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. The concept has already received approval from the government.

A few years ago, the ASDMA constructed some shelter homes in some of the flood-prone districts in the state. However, the newest concept is movable relief camps, as the camps will be on wheels. The ASDMA has designed the relief camps as containers on wheels. Such a camp can give shelter to at least 50 people during disasters. The containers will have facilities for cooking, sanitation, proper ventilation, solar lights, etc. The ASDMA has shared the concept with the PWD and sought its views. ASDMA has a plan to put the concept to the test with a pilot project in a district near Guwahati.
