GUWAHATI: Good news for the ATCL (Assam Tea Corporation Ltd) workers that they would get 20 per cent bonus from September 28. ATCL today released Rs 18 crore for the 15 tea gardens under it. It is a tradition for tea companies to pay bonus to their workers before the Durga Puja every year.
Talking to The Sentinel, ATCL Chairman Rajdeep Gowala said, "We thank Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for giving 20 per cent bonus to ATCL garden workers. ATCL is a loss-making tea company. Despite that, the Chief Minisrter proved his generosity by extending bonus for ATCL garden workers to the maximum extent. The State Government released Rs 18 crore to ATCL for the payment of bonus recently. We transferred the amount (Rs 18 crore) to the garden managers today. The managers will start paying bonus from tomorrow. ATCL has 16,000 workers."
The fifteen ATCL gardens are – Amluckie, Dejuvalley, Loongssong, Sycotta, Naginijan, Messamara, Rungamatty, Negheriting, Rajabarie, Deepling, Longai, Ishabeel, Bholaguri, Cinnamara and Bidyanagar.
