Assam’s students in Manipur have come back: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Students of Assam who were studying in Manipur have returned home, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today.

“We did not evacuate them, we only facilitated their return home. Around 2-3 students are still in Manipur. They did not wish to return as they felt safe there,” he said.

Sarma further said that around 2,000 families from Manipur had taken shelter in the Cachar district but from tomorrow they will start returning to their homes as the situation in Manipur is improving.
