Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) forges Superintendent of Police’s Signature

GUWAHATI: In a bizarre development, a police officer has been arrested for duplicating the signature of his higher-up. This incident occurred in Rani on the outskirts of Guwahati.

According to sources, the accused has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bishu Kachari. He is posted at the Rani Outpost under Palasbari Police Station. On receipt of an FIR, Changsari Police arrested Bishu on Tuesday. The charges against the arrested ASI are “forging the signature of a Superintendent of Police (SP), besides financial as well as service irregularities”.

A case (107/19 under Sections 409/468/470/471/420 IPC) has been registered against him in Changsari Police Station.

The court has sent the accused to five days police custody.
