Barpeta police arrested six jihadis of Al-Qaeda- in Indian Sub Continent (AQIS)

BARPETA: The Barpeta police arrested six jihadis of Al-Qaeda- in Indian Sub Continent (AQIS) from various parts of the Barpeta district on Friday. Barpeta SP Amitabh Sinha disclosed it at a press meet today.

The six jihadis have direct contact with Suman alias Shaiful Islam alias Harun Rashid, who had been arrested by the Barpeta police on March 4 last along with five others.

The six arrested jihadis are – Mufti Suleiman, Kshudra Phaladi village, Sarukshetry; Jahidul Islam, Khandakarpara, Howly; Saddam Hussain, Kumullipara, Howly; Rashidul Islam, Dhanbandha, Garemari Pathar; and two brothers, Musaraf Hussain and Makibul Islam of Katajhar, Barpeta Road.

The police registered a case (419/2022/U/S 120/120(b)/121/121A IPC R/W sec 17/18/18B/19/20 UA( p) Act) against the six.

Suman was staying at Dhakaliyapara, Howly. He had been carrying out jihadi activities since 2019.
