GUWAHATI: Two passengers from Assam died in the tragic accident of the Kamakhya-bound North East Express from New Delhi at Raghunathpur in Bihar last night. The accident claimed four lives, in addition to causing injuries to many.

The two passengers who lost their lives in the accident were a mother-daughter duo hailing from Sadiya in the Tinsukia district. The two deceased were Usha Bhandari (30) and her daughter Akriti Bhandari (8). The four-member family, including Usha Bhandari's husband, Dipak Bhandari, and their other girl child, was travelling by train.

After the accident, all Assam-bound passengers on the train were stranded in Bihar. The railways have arranged a special train to take the stranded passengers to Kamakhya Railway Station. The special train that left Danapur Railway Station this morning is supposed to arrive at Kamakhya Railway Station at midnight today.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the deaths of four passengers in the train accident. In a condolence message, he said, "My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for quick recovery of those injured".
