Horse-trading in Assam Poll 2021: In a bid to thwart any possibility of horse-trading, the BPF (Bodoland People's Front) has kept a section of its candidates in an undisclosed hotel outside the State.

According to sources, as many as 10 BPF candidates contesting the polls in the four districts of BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) have been sent outside the state. The candidates are accompanied by BTC executive members. Only Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, a six-time MLA from the Kokrajhar East constituency, and Rabiram Narzary are in Kokrajhar now.

BPF president Hagrama Mohilary took the decision to shift party candidates to another State after a meeting with its candidates in Kokrajhar, amid fears of 'horse-trading' by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) before the announcement of results of the Assam Assembly elections on May 2, 2021.

Meanwhile, the Congress-led Mahajoot members have expressed the need to exercise caution as the BJP may tempt candidates with winning prospects. Eighteen candidates of the Congress-led alliance, including those of the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), have already been shifted to a hotel in Jaipur.
