GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the intrusion of Rohingyas into Assam and the rest of the country is a much bigger menace as gangs of brokers have been working overtime behind every such intrusion.

Speaking to the media here today, the Chief Minister said, "They enter the northeastern states via Tripura and then spread to the rest of the country. We have caught many such hordes of Rohingyas at the border and pushed them back. Keeping them in prison will only breed more problems for us. We have input from the police that brokers are working behind the scenes to facilitate the intrusion of Rohingyas. They send them to different parts of the country by rail and bus. The brokers do everything for the intruders, including their train or bus tickets. The team of Assam Police is working in Tripura to act against a brokers' gang active in that state. We have sought help from Central Government agencies to bust the racket. The intrusion of Rohingyas is a threat not only for the Northeast but for the entire nation."
