Budget session of Assam Assembly from today

GUWAHATI: The budget session of the Assam Assembly will begin tomorrow. The budget session will start with the Governor's speech and conclude on April 1, 2022.

For Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, it is her first full-fledged budget for fiscal 2022-23. She did present a budget for six months shortly after becoming the Finance Minister.

Assembly Secretariat sources further said that the session might witness the introduction of 13 bills. Till this evening, the Assembly Secretariat received seven bills for introduction in the House. The already received bills are – the Assam Taxation (Liquidation of Arrear Dues) (Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Assam State Commission for Minorities (Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Assam Borstal Institution (Repealing) Bill, 2022; the Assam Children (Repealing) Bill, 2022; the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Assam Municipal Corporation Bill, 2022; and the Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

The bills yet to come to the Assembly Secretariat are – the Assam Contingency Fund (Augmentation of Corpus) (Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Assam Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Fire & Emergency Services Bill, 2022; the Assam Forest Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Assam Excise Repealing Bill, 2022; and the Assam Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat and the Assam Secretariat have a massive security bandobast around them.
