Budget session of the Assam Assembly from today

GUWAHATI: The budget session of the Assam Assembly will commence from Monday. Massive security bandobast has been arranged in view of the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

The House will commence with the Governor’s speech. Then a number of Bills would be introduced in the House. Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will place the budget for the year 2019-2020 on the floor of the House on February 6. The session will continue till February 26.

The sessions are expected to be stormy what with the Opposition expected to corner the Treasury Bench over the Bill. Meanwhile, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has already written to the Speaker requesting for seats in the Opposition.
