A CORRESPONDENT BOKO: If the Congress comes to power in Assam, then CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) will not be implemented in the State. This was stated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while addressing the masses during a large poll rally here on Wednesday. The campaign was held for the third phase Assembly election. Thousands of people from the constituencies of Boko and Chaygaon took part in the rally.

Rahul Gandhi campaigned for Congress candidate Rekibuddin Ahmed (from Chaygaon) and also party candidate from Boko Nandita Das, at the Pritipur Youth Club playground under Chaygaon LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency) in Kamrup district.

Rahul Gandhi started his speech in the memory of Dipanjal Das — the first martyr during the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) movement in the State.

Elaborating about the Congress party's five guarantees, Rahul Gandhi added one more guarantee. Rahul said that if the Congress comes to power in the State, then South Kamrup District will be reopened. The rally was presided over by Chaygaon constituency candidate Rekibuddin Ahmed.

Due to the poor condition of weather, Rahul Gandhi arrived at the venue by road. Earlier, he offered prayers at the Maa Kamakhaya Temple in Guwahati.

Among the dignitaries present in the rally were president of APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) Ripun Bora, senior party leader Debabrata Saikia, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel.
