GUWAHATI: The investigation of the Assam police into the cash-for-job APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) scam has been completed with the Investigating Officer (IO) submitting the 11th (final) charge sheet in the Special Court here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media after submitting the charge sheet, IO Surjeet Singh Panesar said, “All evidences and documents have been submitted to the court. The probe has been completed with respect to those arrested as well as the absconders in the APSC case in Dibrugarh police station. We have prayed before the court for taking cognizance of the proofs submitted and to commence the trial of the case.”

IO Panesar further said that “the State government had constituted a Special Supervisory Team. Its members took stock of our investigation, and asked us to carry out a probe into the assets disproportionate to known sources of income of some former APSC members. We will do so, and submit all details to the court.”

IO Panesar further stated, “The investigation into the APSC case registered in the Dibrugarh Police Station took around two years and nine months to be completed. The answer scripts of 421 candidates of two batches were sent to the forensic laboratories across the country. Altogether four accused are absconding. They are Rajib Paul – the brother of then APSC chairman Rakesh Paul; Sudip Das; Moshidul Islam; and Dr Mrigen Saikia.”
