CBI arrested NF Railway official for demanding a bribe of Rs one lakh

GUWAHATI: The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has arrested an official — SSE (C&W), NF Railway, Dibrugarh Coaching Depot, Tinsukia Division (Assam) — for demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs one lakh from the complainant.

A case was registered on a complaint against the SSE (C&W) on the allegations of demanding a bribe from the complainant for clearing the pending bills in respect of 'Contract Agreement' relating to work of 'Mechanized Railway Coach Cleaning' at the Coach Cleaning Depot of NFR in Dibrugarh.

The CBI sleuths laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs one lakh from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused which led to recovery of some incriminating documents. Further investigation is on, stated a release.

Meanwhile, a report from IANS quoting CBI spokesperson said that the arrested official is Swapnadeep Gogoi.
