Child marriage: 2,278 arrested in Assam

GUWAHATI: Arrest against child marriages continues unabated in Assam. The police have arrested 2,278 people so far.

The arrest of people involved in child marriages is going on in the state for the third day today.

The police arrested as many as 139 people in the Biswanath district, 130 in the Barpeta district, 126 in the Dhubri district, 123 in the Baksa district, 117 each in Bongaigaon and Hojai districts, 101 in the Nagaon district, 94 in the Kokrajhar district, etc.

Meanwhile, protests by the relatives of the arrested people in front of various police stations in the state continue unabated.

Meanwhile, 24 of the arrested people got bail in the Majuli district.
