GUWAHATI: “For the last two years, the government has been taking steps to do away with red-tapism and it has been successful in its efforts. Now most of the government services are offered online. This has brought about transparency and improved efficiency and provided much relief to the public. For all pension-related work, people do not have to visit any office now. The pension money is deposited in their accounts by the 10th of every month,” said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while launching the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana (MMLSAY) for government employees today.

The Chief Minister further said, “Earlier, government employees had to run from pillar to post to reimburse their medical expenses. But under this scheme, without going to the bank or the Treasury office, the reimbursement amount will be deposited in the accounts of the government employees within 45-90 days.”

Under the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana, government employees can avail medical treatment in any hospital, and not just the referral hospitals. They will have to submit the medical bills through a portal. The bills will be verified by a third party and the reimbursement amount will be deposited in the accounts of the employees within 45-90 days.

The Chief Minister said that from April 2024, government employees will be able to avail cashless medical treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Assam Cancer Institute, B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), and AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) Guwahati. From October 2, 2024, employees will be able to avail cashless treatment in all private hospitals across the country.

“To avail this scheme, Rs 250 will be deducted every month from the salary of the employees. However, if any employee wants to stick to the earlier reimbursement policy of the government, he/she can do so,” he said, and added, “It was sad to see government employees take so much time to move the reimbursement files of their colleagues. If they do this to their colleagues, what service will they provide to the public? But now, the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana will provide much succour to government employees.”

The Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana will cover around 6 lakh government employees.
