GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is happy with the Union Budget announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today.
Talking to the media on the Union Budget today, the Chief Minister said, "As and when the Centre pumps in funds for capital projects, it leads to the growth in employment. So the kind of focus has been enhanced by 35 per cent. It will result in growth, employment generation and enhanced industrial production.
"From the Assam Point of view, we are happy because even the devolution amount has been increased substantially. Last year we were allotted Rs 20,000 crore under devolution. Now that will straightway go to Rs 26,000 crore this year. The state finance ministers will present their budgets next month. You will see that the finance ministers will present their respective budgets with confidence since the Union Finance Minister has empowered them. I thank Sitharaman for such a Union Budget."
