GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, on Saturday, held a meeting with the top officials of the Oil India Limited (OIL) on the issues of Baghjan inferno and providing compensation to the victims.
Sonowal asked the OIL to immediately give monetary compensation to those directly hit by the inferno at an early day.
He also requested the OIL to preserve and protect the bio-diversity of Maguri-Motapung Beel situated near the Baghjan inferno site. Sonowal also requested the OIL to implement the measures announced by the Union Petroleum Minister who had visited Baghjan after the inferno.
