TANGLA: Offering a unique message of peace, communal brotherhood, and tolerance, people from different faiths united to hold a peace meeting at Kalapani Masjid in Salbari subdivision under Gobardhan Police Station in Baksa district on Tuesday.

The stakeholders of various castes, communities, and religion, including the Baksa Police and administration, in a gesture of love and affection, donated 50 copies of the Quran to the masjid following the untoward incident where unidentified miscreants had burnt Islamic religious literature, including 11 copies of the Quran and three copies of the ‘Hadith’ (record of the traditions or sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) and some other religious articles of the Kalapani Masjid on Sunday night.

Baksa Superintendent of Police Thube Prateek Vijay Kumar donated a Marathi version of the holy book to the masjid. All BTC Minorities Students’ Union (ABMSU) general secretary Taison Hussain said, “We are very elated that people cutting across castes, communities, and religion have come forward for such a noble gesture of donating holy books.”

However, no breakthrough has been made in connection with the incident.
