GUWAHATI: The State Government has achieved another milestone in its vaccination drive. It crossed the 4-crore mark last night. It administered 4,02,00,443 vaccines doses till 7 pm today.

The vaccination drive began in the state on January 16, 2021. The state health authorities administered 2,29,43,949 first doses, 1,71,86,097 second doses and 70,397 precautionary doses till 7 pm today. On Tuesday (till 7 pm), the government-administered 1,73,754 vaccine doses in 344 vaccination sites.

Talking to The Sentinel, the minister said, "The State Government has enough vaccine stock. We appeal to the people who have not taken the first dose and who are waiting for the second dose to come forward for vaccination."

The number of Covid-19 cases rose fast in the past few days.

When asked if the government will bring any change in the SOP (standard operation procedure), Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, "The state Cabinet will meet at Haflong tomorrow. The issue of SOP may come up for discussion at the Cabinet."

Meanwhile, the Health Minister tweeted, "Over 4 crore doses of #COVID19 vaccines have been administered so far in #Assam. Congratulations to the citizens for getting vaccinated. Gratitude to all health officials, district admin., Frontline, Asha & Anganwadi workers, Gaon Buras & BLOs for their hard work & dedication."

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also tweeted on Assam crossing the 4-crore mark in Covid-19 vaccination.
