GUWAHATI: Seven of the 34 districts of Assam have been declared as 'Total Containment Zones' in the new SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) to fight COVID-19, on Tuesday. Moreover, the State government has also declared curfew in 16 districts for 15 hours from 2 pm to 5 am; and for 12 hours in 11 other districts from 5 pm to 5 am. Inter-district movement continues to remain suspended. Educational and religious institutions will remain closed. The new SOP will remain in force for one week.

The seven districts declared as 'Total Containment Zones' are Biswanath, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, and Sonitpur. Only vegetable and grocery shops besides the tea sector will remain open here till 5 pm. Observance of the anti-COVID protocols is mandatory.

The 16 districts where curfew will be imposed from 2 pm to 5 am are Baksa, Barpeta, Bajali, Cachar, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sibsagar and Tinsukia.

On the other hand, the 11 other districts where curfew will be on from 5 pm to 5 am are Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Chirang, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi, Kamrup (M), Majuli, South Salmara, Udalguri, and West Karbi Anglong.
