Crude oil target missed despite surpassing previous production

Various oil companies working in the state have missed their respective crude oil production targets despite surpassing their previous years’ production.

GUWAHATI: Various oil companies working in the state have missed their respective crude oil production targets despite surpassing their previous years’ production. It has been reflected in the November 2022 report of the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation that reviewed the crude oil production, among others.

According to the report of the Union Ministry, the crude oil production target of ONGC in Assam was 697.13 thousand metric tonnes from April 2022-November 2022. The achievement (provisional) of the oil and gas company during the period was 665.53 thousand metric tonnes. The crude oil production, however, exceeded the production of the corresponding period in 2021. It produced 659.02 thousand metric tonnes during the period corresponding in 2021.

The crude oil production target of OIL (Oil India Ltd.) during the period in Assam was 2249.39 thousand metric tonnes, and the achievement (provisional) was 2064.29 thousand metric tonnes. This is, however, more than the crude oil production of 1969.61 thousand metric tonnes by the company during the corresponding period in 2021.

The report specifically mentioned the crude oil production targets and their achievements by oil companies in November 2022 in the state. The target for ONGC in that month was to produce 90.96 thousand metric tones crure oil, and the achievement (provisional) was 83.76 thousand metric tonnes. This production was also higher than that of November 2021, when the oil and gas giant produced 80.83 metric tonnes.

Likewise, the crude oil production target for OIL in November 2022 was 296.55 thousand metric tonnes, and the achievement (provisional) was 259.24 thousand metric tonnes. Though the oil giant could not meet the target, the production was more than the production, 238.99 thousand metric tonnes, during the corresponding month in 2021.

According to the report, the cumulative production target of crude oil for various companies in India was 20,450.13 thousand metric tonnes during the period from April to November 2022. The achievement (provisional) was 19596.19 thousand tonnes.
