Declare BTR poll date by Nov 20: Gauhati High Court

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court (GHC) has asked the State Election Commissioner (SEC) to declare the date for Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) election by November 20, 2020.

The order was issued after hearing a PIL that seeks holding of BTR election. The court has also instructed the SEC to issue election notification.

Hearing the PIL (59/2020) filed on the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) election, a division bench of the Gauhati High Court has asked the SEC to initiate the process for BTR election in accordance with the decision taken at the Council of Ministers' meeting held on October 7, 2020.
