Director of Higher Education, Assam asked Principals to follow Service Rules

GUWAHATI: The Director of Higher Education, Assam told all principals of government and provincialized colleges of the State to strictly comply with the Assam Civil Service (Conduct) Rules, 1965 that does not allow a government servant to make any statement of fact or opinion criticizing the government. In an office order issued on Monday, the Director of Higher Education said that if a government servant is found criticizing the government, he/she will be held responsible for violation of Rule 3 and Rule 7 of the aforesaid Rules that will attract disciplinary action under the Assam Service (Discipline and Appeals) Rules, 1964. The order came against the backdrop of the agitation against the CAA by college teachers.
