GUWAHATI: Dispur police arrested four youths on the charge of forging the signature of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to get a contract awarded.

According to police sources, the four youths – Jamini Mohan, Dipjyoti Dutta, Pankaj Gogoi and Binit Poddar – submitted a note shown as sent from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to the Chief Engineer, PHE. On suspicion, the Chief Engineer informed the CMO for confirmation. The CMO filed a case (3298/21 u/s 406/420/468/471/34 IPC) at Dispur Police Station last night to that this effect. The police arrested the four youths soon after.

According to police sources, the four youths admitted during interrogation that one Imran Shah Hussain had taken Rs 9 lakh from them for taking the note for the contract in the PHE from the CMO.

Imran Shah Hussain is absconding.
